Hakomi Inspired Somatic Psychotherapy

Hakomi Inspired Somatic Psychotherapy

A Hakomi session is a gentle, body-centered approach to therapy that helps us slow down and become curious about what is happening inside you; your thoughts, emotions, sensations, impulses, and patterns of relating.

Hakomi is deeply relational and co-created. The therapeutic relationship itself becomes part of the healing process. Together, we create experiences of safety, attunement, acceptance, curiosity, and choice that may have been missing or difficult to access earlier in life.

We move beyond only talking about what happened and become curious about what is happening in the present moment. I might invite you to notice a sensation, posture, breath, movement, or emotional response and explore what happens when we bring mindful attention to it.

Many of our beliefs, expectations, and ways of protecting ourselves were shaped through earlier experiences and relationships. They can also develop through loss, rupture, or periods of change. These patterns may continue to influence how we experience ourselves, others, and the world without our realizing it.

Hakomi helps bring these patterns into awareness, not just intellectually, but through how they show up in the body, emotions, thoughts, and relationships. This can be especially helpful when you understand why you react a certain way but find yourself continuing to have the same reaction.

From a place of “loving presence,” mindful awareness, and authentic curiosity, we notice what happens when an old pattern is met with something different. Over time, these new experiences can create more room for choice, connection, self-trust, and greater ease in being with ourselves and others.

At this time, I’m at capacity for clients using insurance and am only accepting out-of-pocket payments. I’m currently in network with Aetna and BCBS. If you’d like to use insurance in the future, I’d be happy to let you know when an opening becomes available.

The above reflects a recommended sliding scale. If these fees don’t feel workable for you, please ask for what you need. I’ll do my best to find an arrangement that feels supportive and sustainable for both of us.
