I'm honored to assist a dear friend with a profound workshop! A Year to Live is a course designed by Ashley Nunn based on the book of the same name by Stephen Levine. We explore our relationship to life and death through self inquiry, journaling, meditation, reflection, mindfulness practices, and exercises to build compassion towards ourselves and our life decisions and experiences, so far.
We'll meet monthly and between sessions, read selected chapters from the book and complete homework assignments to support the process. It is a challenging process but also incredibly rewarding and inspiring. The course explores some Buddhist premises, and other belief structures may come up as well, but the course is not based on any religion and does not require or conflict with specific religious beliefs.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Once you see what the heart really needs,
it doesn’t matter if you’re going to live or die,
the work is always the same. -Noah Levine
What would you do if you found out you only have a year to live? What changes would you make? What relationships would you heal? What adventures have you been putting off? This group will meet monthly over the course of one year and explore what is holding us back from living our lives to the fullest. By confronting the inevitability of our own death, we can wake up to the preciousness of the life we are living right now. We will use Buddhist scholar Stephen Levine’s book A Year to Live as our guide, as well as a manual, homework assignments, various exercises, journaling, inquiry and introspection.
