FAQ’s

Q: What happens in a SUP Yoga class?
A: Class begins on the ground where each student is familiarized with their equipment, including sizing the paddle, mounting the board and basic strokes. Then we paddle out. During this time we are making our way to our floating studio, but you are also getting instruction on how to paddle, pivot, stop, sit and stand on the board. Once we get to our floating studio we drop our anchors and begin a yoga practice.  Practice lasts for about an hour, before we return to shore. There is usually time for me to work with people individually on specific poses and/or take photos. During Twilight Paddles, we do not practice yoga as a group.  We may do a seated meditation, however. The Twilight Paddles are meditative in nature.

Q: Do I need to have paddle or yoga experience?
A: No! In fact, coming with a "beginners mind" and no expectations is ideal. Studio yoga practice does not necessarily translate to the SUP. And while coming with some paddling techniques may be helpful, you will learn everything you need to know in your first session.

Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Please come in either bathing suit attire or yoga clothes, or a combination of both. Please no loose or baggy clothing-these items may become unsafe if you fall or jump in the water. Know that many people have lost hats and sunglasses in the water, so wear them at your own risk. Sunblock and a water bottle are both recommended. Please no shoes or water shoes on the boards. We'll leave our shoes on the shore.
